Untermyer Gardens

New York is blessed with places where visitors are invited to enter a different realm—Wave Hill, the Botanical Gardens (both), and the Hispanic Center are just a few. Untermyer Gardens belongs on that list; it is a fantastical place where visitors are catapulted into the world of Maxfield Parrish.

The place is simply stunning, with gorgeous pavilions, ponds, waterfalls, picnic grounds, and Hudson River views. The light is beautiful; the place simply glows. When I visited, the Gardens hosted multiple wedding parties all searching for a magic moment in time to commemorate their nuptials.

The Garden is open seven days a week (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the fall). Admission is free, but please donate.
